Rating : ★★★★★
From the moment you step into Ett Hem, it becomes abundantly clear that this is not just a hotel; it's an exquisite sanctuary that transcends traditional notions of luxury. Tucked away in the heart of Ostermalm, a quiet residential neighborhood in Stockholm, Ett Hem is a discreet haven that caters to the discerning tastes of high-end travelers seeking an unparalleled experience. Buzzing the door to be admitted to the courtyard, you have no idea just how nice an experience awaits you.

Ambiance : ★★★★★
Ett Hem seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary elegance. The intimate atmosphere, characterized by curated artwork and plush furnishings, invites a sense of exclusivity. Each corner of the hotel exudes sophistication, creating an ambiance that feels more like a lavish private residence than a traditional hotel. Actually, this seductively stylish red brick townhouse couldn’t have chosen a more fitting moniker: it simply means ‘ home’ in Swedish. Order a glass of wine, pinch a book or a board game from the library and settle in for a cosy afternoon in the glasshouse: this is the new benchmark for laid-back Swedish hospitality.

Accommodations : ★★★★★
The Swedish owner, Jeanette Mix, invited Ilse Crawford to design the interior of this 22-room townhouse hotel. As a result, each rooms are different, showcasing individual handmade furniture, ceramics, and antiques. The rooms at Ett Hem are a celebration of understated opulence. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect, with parquet floors, tactile sheepskins, carefully picked artworks and hard-to-leave marble-and-brass bathrooms. The one-bedroom mezzanine suite is best, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Double Room may be snug, but it makes up in design and cosyness what it lacks in size.

Food and drink : ★★★★★
Hungry ? The whole concept of Ett Hem is that it’s a home, so it has a kitchen stocked of locally sourced, organic and fair-trade produce you can stroll into anytime. The in-house restaurant, under the guidance of a renowned chef, offers a gastronomic journey through Swedish and international flavors. If you want something else, the chef will whip something up for you from scratch and will serve you anywhere you want. Everything you will eat or drink is a testament to quality that defines Ett Hem.

Wellness and Relaxation : ★★★★★
The fitness facilities, though discreet, boast state-of-the-art equipment (Technogym machines, a Pilates reformer and yoga mats) for those seeking to maintain their wellness routines. The hotel can also set you up with a personal trainer. After training, nothing soothes post-workout muscles like a traditional Swedish sauna. Ett Hem’s wellness basement area will provide you with a slab of hot stone to relax on, a hot sauna and a vivifying pull-down bucket of ice-cold water. To rejuvenate the mind and body book a massage or beauty treatment using indulgent products.

Service : ★★★★
Swedes are not noted for being effusive, and the service here is pleasant and understated. Being able to wander into the kitchen and chat to the chef as he’s prepping some food is a great pleasure. The staff is very friendly and they’re very happy to help, but you have to be sure to ask for it.
